Farms and rivers

Carnation sits on the east bank of the Snoqualmie River just north of its junction with the Tolt River. The valley around it is farm country, including Remlinger Farms, a 350-acre working farm with a market and seasonal family attractions.

Schools

Getting around

SR 203 runs through town, connecting north to Duvall and south to Fall City and I-90. Sammamish and Redmond are reached over the plateau to the west.

A little history

The town was founded as Tolt in 1865 and incorporated in 1912. It was renamed Carnation in 1917 after lobbying by the Carnation Evaporated Milk Company, switched back to Tolt in 1928 and became Carnation for good in 1951. Today about 2,400 people live in town (Washington OFM, April 1, 2026 estimate).
