The Admiral neighborhood is located on the northern most point of the West Seattle peninsula and only 5 miles from downtown Seattle. Known as the oldest neighborhood in West Seattle, Admiral was once connected to Seattle by ferries and a cable car back in the 1900's. This area is also referred to as the Admiral District and is bordered by the Bainbridge Island ferry route to the north, Harbor Island to the east, Southwest area to the south, and Alki Beach to the west. The West Seattle Bridge runs through the southeast corner of the region and Schmitz Park is located in the southwest corner of the region. This neighborhood is comprised of residents, business people, and others who care about the environmental, economic, and social sustainability of the neighborhood. Events like clean-up days, outdoor concerts, community forums, and art walks get everyone involved and feeling like they are a part of something bigger. The real estate for sale in North Admiral ranges from reasonably priced to somewhat extravagant, which allows for diversity among the community. The houses in the North Admiral district tend to be older and well-preserved or renovated, yet still resemble their original character with their curved ceilings, soaring entry ways, skylights and fireplaces. Tudors, Craftsman style, Dutch Colonials and Victorians outnumber the contemporary styles that have been strategically built on the edge of the bluff for maximum views.
No matter which piece of real estate is of interest to you, everything in North Admiral is located conveniently close to the beach, parks, shopping and restaurants, and allows for an easy stroll to catch a water taxi. The North Admiral neighborhood is served by the Seattle School District and includes West Seattle High School, originally opened in 1917 and recently renovated. North Admiral is home to the 53-acre Schmitz Preserve Park, which contains old-growth forest, hiking and walking trails. The 10-acre Hiawatha Community Center includes play fields, tennis courts, a wading pool, running track and trails. There is a mix of more than 100 shops and small businesses, including a PCC Natural Market, restaurants, bars and coffee shops, and the Art Deco styled Admiral Theatre (showing movies since 1942). Homes for sale in Admiral vary: there are Condos For Sale In Admiral, Town-Homes For Sale In Admiral, and Single-Family Homes For Sale In Admiral. There are also many New Homes For Sale In Admiral and many under construction. Thank you for using SearchHomesNW.com to find 30% more listings than Zillow, Trulia, and Realtor.
