A little history

Houghton is named for lumberman Willard Houghton. It incorporated as its own town in 1948 and was annexed by Kirkland in 1968. During World War II the Lake Washington Shipyards here built Navy ships, and many shipyard workers lived on the land that is now Northwest University.
